This paper studies the effect of m-aminobenzoic acid functionalized modified fullerene (tC60-FQW) doping on the insulation properties of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) composites. By using the electron induction effect of tC60-FQW structure
the uniform capture of electrons in the C60 molecular orbital is realized
and the electric field distortion is effectively reduced. Three XLPE samples were prepared with 500 kV XLPE DC cable material by a solution blending method and a hot pressing method. The experiments on the DC conductivity
DC breakdown
and dielectric properties
as well as the differential scanning calorimetry
quantum chemical calculation
and the Kelvin probe microscopy tests were carried out on the samples; meanwhile
the insulation properties of XLPE before and after modification were analyzed. The results show that the DC breakdown field strength of XLPE composite with tC60-FQW is increased by 13.76% compared with pure XLPE
and the composite shows lower DC conductivity and dielectric loss
the surface potential decay rate is slower and the amplitude is smaller
the crystallinity of the sample is increased and the wafer thickness is reduced. The quantum chemical calculation shows that the barrier is formed at the interface between XLPE and the quantum well tC60-FQW
and the electrons are evenly dispersed on the tC60-FQW molecular cage
thus effectively reducing the electric field distortion at the interface between tC60-FQW and XLPE matrix.
