Short‑term efficacy and safety of transcatheter edge‑to‑edge repair: A single⁃center retrospective analysis
To evaluate the short‑term safety and effectiveness of transcatheter edge‑to‑edge repair (TEER) in patients with moderate‑to‑severe mitral regurgitation (MR).
Methods
2
A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data from patients with moderate‑to‑severe MR who underwent TEER in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University
between April 2022 and August 2025. Data were collected including pre‑operative clinical and echocardiographic parameters
intraoperative records
and 1‑month postoperative follow‑up information.
Results
2
A total of 49 patients (30 male
19 female) were enrolled
and all cases completed 1‑month follow‑up. The primary efficacy endpoint was MR grade ≤2+ at 30 days. Secondary efficacy outcomes included an improvement of ≥1 class in New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional classification or an increase of >50 meters in the 6‑minute walk test distance (6MWD). The safety endpoint was the occurrence of new‑onset major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) within 30 days post‑procedure
a composite of cardiovascular mortality
non‑fatal stroke
myocardial infarction
heart failure rehospitalization
valvular dysfunction
and renal dysfunction. Among the 49 patients
100% achieved MR grade ≤2+ at the 30‑day follow‑up. The 30‑day MACCE rate was 4.08%
with all events being rehospitalizations due to unstable angina or heart failure. No cardiovascular deaths
strokes
or myocardial infarctions occurred.
Conclusion
2
The results indicate that TEER effectively reduces mitral regurgitation and has a favorable short‑term safety profile.
