Efficacy analysis of tubeless percutaneous nephrolithotomy in the treatment of HIV positive patients with kidney calculi
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of tubeless percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in the treatment of HIV positive patients with kidney calculi.
Methods
2
A retrospective analysis was performed on the patients with kidney calculi in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University from June 2015 to June 2019. All patients had an S.T.O.N.E score of 6 and underwent tubeless PCNL performed by the same surgeon. Postoperatively
no nephrostomy tube was placed
but a ureteral stent and urinary catheter were retained. There were 11 patients in the HIV positive group and 26 patients in the HIV negative group
and the stone clearance rate
postoperative complications
operation time
and postoperative hospital stay were compared between the two groups.
Results
2
No patient experienced major complications such as sepsis
renal insufficiency
or significant bleeding. There was no significant difference in postoperative hospital stay and the stone clearance rates between the HIV positive and HIV negative groups. The operation time in the HIV positive group was significantly longer than that in the HIV negative group
as (93.73±3.45) min versus (83.42±2.59) min
respectively.
Conclusion
2
Tubeless PCNL is a safe and effective treatment for HIV⁃positive patients with renal calculi (S.T.O.N.E score of 6)
demonstrating satisfactory outcomes and significant clinical value for this patient population.
