Effects of mandatory immunization on animal diseases in Shishou City, Hubei Province in spring 2026
The effects of implementing mandatory immunization on animal diseases in Shishou City
Hubei Province were accurately evaluated to optimize the system of preventing and controlling the local animal diseases.
Methods
2
The livestock and poultry subject to centralized mandatory immunization in Shishou City in the spring of 2026 were used to conduct random sampling the city based on free-range households and large-scale farms. 805 valid samples of serum were collected. The level of antibody against the type A/O of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD)
the H5/H7 subtype of highly pathogenic avian influenza
classical swine fever
and diseases in small ruminants was detected. The effects of implementing centralized immunization in the city during spring was systematically evaluated with the qualification rate of immune antibodies against various diseases as the core index of evaluation.
Results
2
The average qualification rate of antibodies against diseases with mandatory immunization in the city ranged from 86.85% to 98.46%
including 88.49% of antibody against the type A of FMD
86.85% of antibody against the type O of FMD
98.18% of antibody against the H5 subtype of highly pathogenic avian influenza
96.14% of antibody against the H7 subtype of highly pathogenic avian influenza
98.46% of antibody against swine fever
and 88.57% of antibody against diseases in small ruminants.
Conclusions
2
The average qualification rate of antibodies against diseases with mandatory immunization in Shishou City
Hubei Province met the requirement of more than 70% specified in the "Implementation Plan for Mandatory Immunization of Animal Diseases in Hubei Province (2026-2030)". However
there are still shortcomings in local immunization. It is necessary to work together from four dimensions including monitoring and evaluation
collaboration between farms and enterprises
risk prediction
and team building to further strengthen and enhance the system of preventing and controlling animal diseases in Shishou City
